STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The incumbent will provide oral and written instructions concerning policies, performance criteria
and assignments in the operation of the dining facility. Supervises and assists in the preparation of
food, serving of meals, preparation of snacks and sack lunches and cleaning of the kitchen and
dining facility. Prepares in quantity some items for each meal, including use of new or complex
recipes for the preparation of such items as poultry, fish, chops, steaks, hamburgers, fresh or
frozen vegetables, sauces, gravies and soups. Directs the work of cooks and food service workers
who are assigned to perform a variety of tasks connected with the preparation of food items,
instructs them, answers questions, and assures that the work is being accomplished properly.
Responsible for day-to-day administration, which includes budget accountability for cafeteria
operations, food ordering, food storage, preparation of reports and required forms in a timely
manner.

Qualifications Handbook for additional qualification requirements and substitutions for education.

BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
OTHER REQUIREMENTS/SPECIAL REFERENCE:
Graduation from high school or GED supplemented with two years of college or vocational training
in culinary arts; or two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and
experience. Food Handlers permit required. Acceptable experience will include work involving
"leading" assignments, or prior food service leadership experience. Following directions and
reading instructions are paramount requirements. Candidate must have two years food service
personnel experience. Applicant must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be in excellent physical
condition. Good distant vision in one eye and ability to read without strain printed materials the
size of typewritten characters are required, glasses permitted.
Applicant is subject to a favorable background investigation. Upon selection, selectee will
be required to complete a Declaration for Federal Employment, OF-306. This is a Non-
Critical, Moderate Risk Position subject to a favorable adjudicated background investigation.
All male applicants born after December 31, 1959, will be required to complete the
certification document to confirm their selective service status.
Subject to probationary period for 18 calendar months, which may be extended.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.
