OUTREACH ANNOUNCEMENT

Seasonal Range/Wildlife Jobs

The Salmon-Challis National Forest North Zone Wildlife Program is currently looking to fill two positions to be part of a
range/wildlife habitat assessment team on sage grouse. Individuals will be required to perform field work in remote areas,
hiking to distant locations, establishing plots for collection of field data, and performing data analysis. Employment will
last from approximately late May through September. Positions will be stationed at the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District in
Salmon, Idaho and work schedules will be 40 hours/week. This notification is being circulated to inform prospective
applicants of this opportunity and how to apply.

Housing: There is no government quarters available. Employees will be required to find their own housing. Rental rates
in Salmon generally range from $500 - $800/month.

Position Duties

.
Navigate to remote areas using topographic and/or GIS maps.
.
Locate and establish transects in study areas via GPS navigation techniques.
.
Collect and record vegetative data in upland and riparian settings using GPS units.
.
Knowledge and familiarity with data dictionaries, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is preferred.
.
Perform data analysis and prepare written reports of results.
.
Identify plant and wildlife species.
.
Must have valid State Driver’s License.
.
Operate four-wheel drive vehicles in rough terrain.
